About Polperro

Here is a short description of the village – Polperro

Polperro is a pretty Cornish fishing village which preserves the natural beauty of the rugged Cornish Riviera coast. Just 26 miles from Plymouth, it is a village which is unspoiled by time and offers both the marine blue sea and sandy beaches which define a Cornish holiday.

Explore the large shallow rock pools and rocky coves at the base of the cliffs or enjoy a soak in Chapel Pool – a rock pool large enough to swim in.

Polperro enjoys a gentle climate and features everything you could possibly wish for when holidaying in the South West. Quaint, friendly pubs pull pints of real ale whilst fine restaurants serve up locally caught seafood to tantalise your taste buds.

Take a stroll down the charming streets of Polperro and browse a variety of quirky shops, independent art galleries, antique and gift shops. We’re sure you’ll find a unique memento of your time in the pretty little village.

There’s plenty to see and do for the whole family. Get yourselves on board a fisherman’s vessel and sail into the open sea for a spot of angling or simply walk along the South West Coastal Path and choose a picturesque picnic spot where you can relax and take in the view.

Popular attractions close by include Land of Legend, the Model Village and the Museum of Smuggling alongside some beautiful historical sites.

Polperro boasts a wonderful sandy beach with a shallow rock pool, affectionately named Maids Pool by the locals, which is perfect for paddling. If you enjoy exploring, there are plenty of rocky coves close by and an inviting rock pool called Chapel Pool which is large enough to take a leisurely swim in. The pool appears as the tide recedes each day.

Polperro is an ideal base from which to explore the county of Cornwall. Take a boat trip with the fishermen from Polperro to the pretty coastal town of Fowey – home of Daphne Du Maurier, author of Jamaica Inn, Frenchman’s Creek and Rebecca.

“We have just returned from a 5 day stay at Crumplehorn cottage No. 1. Perfect cottage for 2 people, very well appointed and beautifully clean. The location could not have been better. Parking space in front of cottage, 5 minute walk to village centre and harbour, restaurant and pub just across the road. “

“We’ve lost count how many visits we’ve made to the Crumplehorn Cottages, but they never disappoint. The property is always beautifully presented with fresh flowers and shortbread biscuits. Thank you Victoria for your welcome and hospitality.”
